Students registered in a NationsUniversity graduate program prior to October 1, 2009 have a choice of patterns.  They may choose to complete the degree by fulfilling the pattern in effect when they entered the M.R.S. program.  Or, they may choose to satisfy the pattern that became effective at a later date.  The most current pattern is always recommended, unless the student is nearing the end of the program.

If you entered the M.R.S. degree program between September 5, 2008 and September 30, 2009, the pattern in effect was as follows:

MRS 622 A Search for Spirituality*
MRS 001 The Hebrew Scriptures**
MRS 006 The Greek Scriptures**
M 3 Systematic Theology
M 4 Biblical Hermeneutics
MRS 540 The Church to 120 C.E.
Electives (24 credits)***
The degree will be completed with a series of essays

*BRS graduates from NU who have credit for BRS 16.6 must substitute a course of their choice.
**BRS graduates from NU are granted advanced standing and are exempt from MRS 001 and 006.
***Electives may be drawn from across the graduate curriculum, but a maximum of 12 credits will be allowed from any group of courses belonging to a given category--Biblical Backgrounds (MRS 100s), The Hebrew Scriptures (MRS 200s), The Greek Scriptures (MRS 300s), Church History (MRS 400s), Theology (MRS 500s), Ministry (MRS 600s or M 7 and higher), Comparative Religion (MRS 700s).  Required courses are not included in this maximum.

*B.R.S. graduates from NationsUniversity who completed BRS 16.6 must substitute a course of their choosing.
**B.R.S. graduates from NationsUniversity are exempt from these courses.   

Course Requirements for the M.R.S. prior to August 3, 2008:

1.  If the student did not completed the Bachelor of Religious Studies at NationsUniversity, the following courses are required.  Credits earned in these courses will apply toward the 30-credit requirement for the degree.

MRS 001 The Hebrew Scriptures or M 1 Critical Introduction to the Old Testament
MRS 004 Theology of the Hebrew Scriptures or M 3 Systematic Theology
MRS 006 The Greek Scriptures or M 2 Critical Introduction to the New Testament
MRS 009 Theology of the Greek Scriptures or M 3 Systematic Theology
M 4 Biblical Hermeneutics

2.  If the student completed a Bachelor of Religious Studies degree at NationsUniversity, he/she is exempt from taking the above courses.  He/she will complete 30 credits by electing courses from across the graduate curriculum.
