Frequently Asked Questions
Registration Issues
1. How do I register?
From the navigation panel on the home page, click on Registration. Read the registration policies, then click “register here” at bottom of page. Complete the form. Be sure to include a correct e-mail address. You will receive confirmation by e-mail with your username and password and further instructions.
2. What is my Username?
The Username is the code issued to each student upon completion of registration. It consists of two lower case letters and six numbers. This code will be needed when you log on to the website. It is also necessary to include this code when communicating with NationsUniversity staff or your advisor.
3. What is my Password?
Your Password is the personal code, made up of seven to nine lower case letters and one number, which is assigned at the time you register. You cannot log on to the website without entering your password. See instructions at www.nationsu.org/getstarted.
4. What is my Student Code?
The student code is the same as the username and consists of two lower case letters and six numbers. See your confirmation of registration.
5. How do I log in?
Go to the website Navigational Panel on the Home Page (www.nationsu.org) and scroll down to Academics. The index page will reveal many offerings. When you click on a course, you will be asked to login.
Degree Requirements
6. If I have a bachelor’s degree, but not in theology, do you consider my degree or award me a second bachelor’s degree?
When a student presents a legitimate bachelor’s degree in any field, that student is automatically placed in the graduate program. Students are discouraged from taking a second bachelor’s because of the level of work. By the time a bachelor’s degree is earned, the student should be ready to pursue work at another level, even if the first level is taken in non-religious disciplines.
7. Can I transfer courses from another school?
Yes, NU will review and accept the transfer of credit that is deemed to be university level, subject to restrictions related to the degree completion plan. Send a copy of your transcript to bethanys@nationsu.org and remember to include your username for proper identification.
8. What are the requirements for earning Bachelor’s degree?
See under Academics on the website. Generally, 120 semester credits are required unless you submit transfer credit.
9. What are the requirements for earning a master’s degree?
See under Academics on the website for details.
Courses of Study
10. What is the first course that I need to take? Is there any order or priority in taking courses?
Students are encouraged to begin with BRS16.6, A Search for Spirituality. Internet students are not bound to any order and may pursue courses at discretion. However, to receive credit toward academic awards, read the section under Academics pertaining to the various awards and degrees.
11. Can I take any course that I like to start?
See under #10. Because not all students intend to complete a degree but wish to take select courses, the free choice option is always open. Few courses require a prerequisite course. Perhaps most important is the personal discipline which you should establish. We recommend that a student consider the time he/she is able to give to study, establish a routine schedule, and stick to it. For example, if you can complete a module in a week, then map out the course for five weeks. If you have more or less time to devote to study, then make your schedule realistic. The schedule will help you determine to take that first exam.
12. Is there a time limit for reading course material?
The absolute time limit to complete a course (five modules) with NU is one calendar year. The website will time out after a period of inactivity, but it can always be reactivated without penalty. Each enrollment is valid for twelve months.
Questions Regarding Exams
13. How does the online exam system work?
The exam link is shown just under each Module on the course menu. Only when a student is ready to take the exam should he click on this link. You will be given 60 minutes to answer a set of multiple choice questions. You may review your answers before clicking “submit all and finish.” You will be able to see your grade and also know which questions you answered incorrectly. If your score is below 70, you should plan to re-take the exam after more study. If your score is above 70, you may proceed to Module two.
14. Is there a time limit for taking exams?
Time allowed for internet exams is set for one hour. The system will allow you to take the exam again but the questions may be different.
15. If I am not able to take an online exam, is there any other way to take the exam?
Yes, send your request to studenthelp@nationsu.org. Be sure to give your name, student code, and the exam identifier noted just under the Module number on the course menu.
16. When I get the exam questions through e-mail, how much time do I have to complete and return the answers?
You should not request an exam via e-mail until you are ready to answer the questions to take it. You must not open the exam until you are fully prepared for it. We expect the exam to be returned within two days after opening it.
17. Am I permitted to view my Bible or notes during exams?
Instructions regarding exams are given when you open an exam online. A few exams allow notes and Bibles but, as a general rule, you should not expect to be able to view sources when taking an exam.
18. Is there any way to get the results and see the wrong questions that I answered?
Yes, when you take the exam online, the results will be revealed immediately. There are many advantages to taking exams online.
19. If I make less than 70 on one exam but pass the exams on the other modules, should I re-take the whole course?
NU requires that each module exam be passed with a minimum of 70% score. If you want the grade to be applied toward a degree, you should plan to re-take the exam after further study. Your grade will remain incomplete until you have passed the exam. But if you pass an exam with a score of 70 or more, you need not take the exam again to gain a higher score.
20. Where can I review all of my grades?
To find all of your grades on the Internet, you must log onto the website. Click on VIEW GRADES shown on the Home page. Your transcript will be available online just as soon as the programming is complete, hopefully July 30. Watch the website for announcements.
